A BEAUTIFUL 16th CENTURY COUNTRY PUB & RESTAURANT

“The Jerusalem artichoke veloute was worth the trip alone…you could lock me in a small room and force me to eat this three times a day. Heaven”.

The Oxford Times, January 12th 2017

The White Hart of Wytham – a country mile from Oxford city centre  – has been under new management since January 2015. We reopened following a 5 day period of restoration to this beautiful building. Now boasting a beautiful secluded courtyard garden, conservatory, two dining rooms, large bar area, new outdoor bar, a renovated Georgian stable party room and one of the largest of car parks!   Click here for our a la carte menu for lunch and dinner is now being served from Monday through to Saturday each week.  On Sundays we only serve our Sunday lunch menu – click here. A very warm open log fire of a welcome awaits you. Please note that our kitchen is closed on Sunday & Monday evenings.

  5. Saturday lunch at the White Hart, and a very good one too. Weather good enough to sit outside, food more than good enough to eat – actually, really, really good – and service hit excellent. So I guess we’ll be back. Glad that you’re there.

  6. Hi, Just wanted to say thank you for an excellent meal on 27 July 15 which myself and friends (5) really enjoyed. The choice of menu was great and very good value for money. I can highly recommend the fish (sole) which was beautifully prepared and presented (on bed of spinach and chilli) and the apricots in toffee sauce and clotted cream wonderful. The staff were very friendly and we were all made to feel comfortable and well looked after immediately on arrival and throughout the meal.
    Will definitely visit again.

  7. Just had the most scrummy meal at the White Heart, turned up on a whim and were bowled over by the food and service we received. Someone there really knows how to cook. The courtyard setting in the early evening sunshine was perfect.
The wood pidgeon breast starter was roasted perfectly and the coffee and cardamom creme brulee pud was very suble and beautifully balanced. In between I had the tempura battered whiting which was cooked perfectly so that it retained it’s moistness. The liitle pea and mint timbale were really lovely. We will certainly return before very long. Smashing! Thanks to all

  11. Discovered this gem in the brilliant sunshine after a country walk. Your courtyard garden was a delight and the all-homemade food of superb standard, with prompt, discrete and friendly service. The stables (free hire – unbelievable) are totally unique and I would recommend anyone to go the extra mile and discover all of this for themselves.

The only thing you need to sort out is the order that these comments come out in….a very very minor matter.

  15. Great Sunday Lunch last Sunday. Have not been here for a couple of years as previous experiences were poor how ever the new owner took over 2 years ago and without have created a hidden jewel of a destination but within easy reach of Oxford. Great Staff who have a welcoming can do attitude-Great food both in quality and presentation and cooked in a way that makes it unique even the Sunday roast with selection of vegetables with different-Great to see home made products. The price of the roast is a little higher than the average roasts you can get elsewhere in the area but trust me the quality and environment is all in balance and it makes the whole event an experience. Well done to Baz the owner who seems a like a guy that knows how to run a business in the right way. We will be back.
