It’s been a couple of months in the planning and delivery, but our Observatory – a clear roof and sides marquee – will be up and open by the December 3rd. It will cover the entire area of our courtyard and all of the existing pods. It’s designed to provide safer, warmer and even more weather proof dining whatever is thrown our way in the coming months.

If you are looking to eat out safely with family, friends – where allowed- you can now make a reservation for a heated pod within The Observatory. We plan to be open whatever the weather in December ( including Christmas Day) and well into the New Year. You can use the Open Table link below or make further enquiries via info@whitehartwytham.com

Thank you for all your support and interest – reservations can now be made below:

OUR CURRENT A LA CARTE MENU is being added to on a daily basis. We are also serving sandwiches & pub classics at lunchtime.

BOOKING A POD  – you can go on our wait list by emailing us HERE

When you arrive we want to ensure you feel safe, secure and comfortable. We have put into place all of the current guidelines for safe distancing eating and drinking.  Furthermore we’ve designed and built ten dining pods for outdoor and courtyard use.  They have been built largely from recycled materials, and to provide you with safe and comfortable eating, whatever the weather and the virus.

It’s been particularly tough for small independent hospitality businesses and we are so very grateful for all the support we have received from our customers.  If you would like to help further, there is also this opportunity:

Thank you.  Baz

The White Hart of Wytham – a country mile from Oxford city centre  – has been under new management since January 2015. In the past 3 months we’re extremely proud and grateful to have received three awards & nominations for our food from The Oxford Times, Bitten Oxford and Wadworth Brewery.  We are family and dog friendly, and boast two dining rooms, large bar area, conservatory, a beautiful secluded courtyard , outdoor bar, a renovated Georgian stable party room and one of the largest of car parks!

  1. Lunch today was our first meal out since lockdown – it was absolutely lovely! The food was delicious and, importantly, we also felt safe due to the way the staff behaved and the way everything was organised. A lot of thought has obviously gone into all this and it works – thank you, we’ll be back!

  2. Thank you so much for a fab meal with such happy kind staff – we always love coming and it felt extra special Being my birthday. Once again thanks for welcoming our dog too. Loving the new pods too!

    • No problem with an entrance to a restaurant area. One small step ( we have ramps if needed). Mobility parking available outside of pub . WC facilities limited for wheelchair as we are a 17th century building. Please call us to discuss your requirements in detail. Thanks, Baz

      • I can not recommend this place enough
Baz and the team are simply superb
We went for lunch yesterday and it was the first time out with both my twenty somethings since lockdown and we had the most delicious lunch
        See you again soon

  3. Excellent food and good beers. I am a farm-hand and was accepted in my harnessed Levi’s as well as being capped and booted along with my farm mates dressed the same! Perfect!

  4. What a beautiful place to be.One of the best pubs we have been to. The food was outstanding well presented and fool of amazing flavours . Thank you to all the staff
For being so lovely and helpful .Many thanks and see you soon

  5. Dear Baz and Team
just to say thanks for such a good Sunday Roast..excellent in both quality and quantity.
Also, to achieve such results after problems caused by the storms was impressive.

  6. We had a quiet family supper ahead of our son starting his studies at Oxford. The food and service were superb. We cannot recommend the White Hart highly enough. The Waddies 6X was a joy!

    • Dear Martyn, many thanks for this. It is much appreciated. Best wishes to your son on his start at Oxford University; it was a pleasure to meet you. Kind regards , Baz

  7. do you have accommodation at your pub or in the vicinityas we will be travelling to uk from indonesia on 24 may and attending a jazz night on 2nd june at you pub

  8. We are passing through on Thursday at about 6pm and will need dinner, including for our 5year old. My wife needs Gluten free – what options do you have. Is there a bar menu for something lighter than a la carte? Thanks

  9. Me and my partner attended an amazing jazz concert last night at the White Hart in the lovely village of Wytham
We decided to eat at the pub and we were both blown away by the food and made to feel very welcome by the friendly staff
I don’t usually eat burgers but decided to try the venison burger which was topped
with a delicious melted blue cheese and served in a fresh bun with red onions and was just heaven, the chips were served with a spicy home made mushroom ketchup.
My girlfriend went for the lamb Tagine off which I sampled, tender, tasted amazing and beautifully presented
We shall be back soon to indulge in some more of the interesting options on the Menu.

  10. Great Sunday Lunch last Sunday. Have not been here for a couple of years as previous experiences were poor how ever the new owner took over 2 years ago and without have created a hidden jewel of a destination but within easy reach of Oxford. Great Staff who have a welcoming can do attitude-Great food both in quality and presentation and cooked in a way that makes it unique even the Sunday roast with selection of vegetables with different-Great to see home made products. The price of the roast is a little higher than the average roasts you can get elsewhere in the area but trust me the quality and environment is all in balance and it makes the whole event an experience. Well done to Baz the owner who seems a like a guy that knows how to run a business in the right way. We will be back.

  11. Had our boys 1st birthday here today. Food was amazing and the staff were brilliant. The waiter that looked after us was amazing. His name is Johnny…. my boy loved him as did we. His social skills are incredible. Thankyou so very much!!

  12. Just ate here and we found the food and service excellent. If you are in the area, don’t miss out. Well worth the extra mile or two for a good meal.

  13. In great anticipation of what will undoubtedly be another amazing Sunday lunch at the WTH with the inimitable and ever accommodating Baz B!! Simply can’t wait for the next 2 hours to fly by!! The only thing you need to sort out is the order that these comments come out in….a very very minor matter.

  14. Discovered this gem in the brilliant sunshine after a country walk. Your courtyard garden was a delight and the all-homemade food of superb standard, with prompt, discrete and friendly service. The stables (free hire – unbelievable) are totally unique and I would recommend anyone to go the extra mile and discover all of this for themselves.

  15. Another good lunch on Bank Holiday Monday at the White Hart. Your meat and game are just the best, and the service too.

  16. A group of friends had a thoroughly enjoyable time at the White Hart yesterday, we were fortunate to meet Baz and hear all about the exciting up n’ coming events through the summer! Stacey Kent in Oct, how great is that!!!! We’ll be there…

  17. Chose this pub randomly to meet up half way for lunch with some friends from the other side of England, and I am really pleased I did. Super food, and great service. I expect we’ll be back! Thank you.

  18. A big thank you to Adam and team for looking after our table whilst celebrating a family birthday.
Very accommodating and very tentative, even to our 6yr old son.
Fantastic food of a very high quality and wonderful atmosphere….highly recommended 🙂
This was our first visit, and will most definitely be returning very soon..!!

  19. Just had the most scrummy meal at the White Heart, turned up on a whim and were bowled over by the food and service we received. Someone there really knows how to cook. The courtyard setting in the early evening sunshine was perfect.
The wood pidgeon breast starter was roasted perfectly and the coffee and cardamom creme brulee pud was very suble and beautifully balanced. In between I had the tempura battered whiting which was cooked perfectly so that it retained it’s moistness. The liitle pea and mint timbale were really lovely. We will certainly return before very long. Smashing! Thanks to all

    • Thank you Pat. Your comments are most appreciated by all of us. It’s just 6 months since we took over this beautiful pub and your words make all the hard work so worthwhile. Thank you. Baz

  20. Hi, Just wanted to say thank you for an excellent meal on 27 July 15 which myself and friends (5) really enjoyed. The choice of menu was great and very good value for money. I can highly recommend the fish (sole) which was beautifully prepared and presented (on bed of spinach and chilli) and the apricots in toffee sauce and clotted cream wonderful. The staff were very friendly and we were all made to feel comfortable and well looked after immediately on arrival and throughout the meal.
    Will definitely visit again.

  21. Saturday lunch at the White Hart, and a very good one too. Weather good enough to sit outside, food more than good enough to eat – actually, really, really good – and service hit excellent. So I guess we’ll be back. Glad that you’re there.
